The Vikings!

Our topic this term is ‘The Vikings’ and we are learning about who the Vikings were, where they came from and how they lived. We have made props for our play, ‘The Vikings!’

We also learnt about Up-Helly-Aa celebrations and enjoyed all the visits from Up-Helly- Aa Jarl Squads.

We loved getting a closer look at clothing, jewellery, shields and axes when Vikings visited our class!

ICT

This term we have been learning how to keep safe online. We have completed lessons on our digital footprint and keyword searches. We enjoyed looking at different holiday destinations and worked well with our partners to gather lots of information.

Science on Tour

The Glasgow Science Centre visited the school at the end of January and P1 – 3 thoroughly enjoyed taking part in their ‘Journey Through My Body Science Show’. We learnt about where and how food travels through the body and the importance of diet and making healthy choices.

Visit to Artscool exhibition at Shetland Museum

The exhibition has been organised and hung by the art teachers in Shetland. We hope it will give a flavour of what creativity looks like and that it will be inspiring and encouraging. P3A and B have work represented in the exhibition. Finley Smith and Eden Powis have their work in the exhibition and other children from Sound School are in the slide show at the back of the exhibition.

The exhibition has been extended to the 15th January 2023 why not go and see it in real life.
