We have enjoyed Maths Week!
Numeracy Ninja Workbooks
Each day this week we worked on Numeracy Ninja Workbooks. This is a 30 question quiz on different numeracy skills. After each 30 questions pupils take their score and work out what colour of Ninja belt they are on. The class really enjoyed being challenged.
ZK ” It is pushing me in maths and I’m learning how to do new sums.”
RR “I only got 13, now I’ve got 18. I’m getting better at maths.”
MC “It is getting my brain engaged and I’m on a hunt for a brown belt.”
LA ” I like it a lot as it helps you improve. I think it is fun but it is a bit of a challenge!”
Sumdog and Times Table Rockstars
We used our laptop time to engage in challenges in Sumdog and Times Table Rockstars.
Maths Games
We had a carousel of games practising addition and multiplication skills. Eve and Mrs Burgess also taught us how to play yahtzee.
Animal Symmetry Pictures
We completed pictures of animals, practising skills in symmetry.
Teacher Led Gym
We played some maths related games in the gym. We played, “Whats the Time Mr Wof?”, Pacman (with tables practice) and Relays (with tables practice.)
Maths with our Buddies
To round off the week we went down to Primary 2. Earlier in the week they had been outside collecting resources for maths games – stones and sticks. They had made their own games and they showed us how to play them. We were really impressed at how well they could talk about their games and the strategies they could use.
Meta skills included in our numeracy lessons this week are focusing, initiative, collaborating, leading, sense-making and critical thinking.
