Art Lesson

In Art p5 have been learning how to form models using newspaper.

We started by drawing and researching creatures that live in and around Lerwick harbour.

After choosing our favourite one we learned how to manipulate newspaper to create a 3d model of it. We used cellulose paste and tissue paper to cover them and add details.

They all worked extremely hard and have done a fantastic job, well done p5! 😍

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit from Children’s Classic Concerts on Tuesday. We got to participate in lots of fun ways, and some of us even got to experience playing their instruments with them. We did a great job!

Buddying with P2A

Primary 5 helped Primary 2 find sites with information about protecting the sea, they had to find four facts. Then they worked together to create a poster.

Generation Science – Creative Coding

Edinburgh Science Learning, Generation Science provided a great workshop for Primary 5.

Creative Coding used Marty the Robot to demonstrate how robots can be programmed to complete tasks. Marty was Wi-Fi enabled and had nine individually controlled servo motors to make it move and sensors to detect its environment.

Marty used the open-source programming platform called Scratch to control it.

Inside Marty is a microcontroller which is an electric circuit board that performs the same functions as the central processing unit of a computer. Marty has a number of different sensors. He had a distance sensor, tilt sensor and force sensor.

Art Lesson

In art primary 5 have been learning to observe and capture the details of a real life object.

They have done such a great job of capturing the different shapes and details of the daffodils. 🥰

The Frog Pond and Clickimin Loch

Our topic is Water this term so we decided to find out more about areas of water close to the school. We walked round Clickimin Loch and we also visited the manmade pond close to the hostel which was full of frogs!

Music technology

Today we were creating music using technology. We were exploring different sites to create lots of different sounds and music. This is always fun! We especially loved Blob Opera and the beatboxing on Incredibox.
