We made yummy treats for Christmas. We worked individually to make mint and orange creams. We really enjoyed doing it and quite enjoyed trying out our recipe.
Orca in the Voe
We had a glimpse of Orca who swam up the voe as far as the breakwater. unfortunately by time we heard about it they were going back out again. we then went down to the beach to get out into the sun and also to stretch our legs.
The seals were all up in the shallows, the Orca had scared them out of the deep water.
We saw lots of interesting things when we were at the beach!
Pneumatic Monsters
We investigated hydraulics and pneumatics and then used our knowledge to make some monsters or things that popped out of a tree. The materials and ideas came from SSERC.
Shoe Box Appeal
We got a big thank you from the Shoebox appeal for our donations. Here some of us are with our boxes.
Remembrance 2020
We did our two-minute silence and then listened to the sound of the guns falling silent in 1918.
Listen carefully and you will hear a bird singing right at the end.
Imperial War Museum re-creation Ending World War I, River Moselle, American Front – YouTube
Nursery made some lovely poppies.
Titanic
We have all had the opportunity to undertake some research on the Titanic. Just don’t mention the film to Mr. Renwick, or the theme tune… something about recorders!
We did some science experiments around it too. We made and tested two ‘ships’ one with watertight compartments and one without to see what would happen. the watertight compartments worked the best.
Here we are conserving some notes ‘found’ on the titanic.
More Archery
Mr Renwick brought his bows from home and let us have a go. He cleaned everything between goes like the smaller bows.
We used a 12lb and 16lb bow.
we really enjoyed it.
we reckoned there was a secret society somewhere as every time we went to go outside then it rained. It got to the point that even mentioning archery meant it would rain.
Back after the Summer
We all returned fit and well after the summer and welcomed out new Primary one into the class. We have spent a lot of time talking about how our time away made us feel and how we enjoyed being back in and able to play with our friends again.
we worked as teams to make the tallest structure out of Pasta and mini marshmallows…
There was plenty of pasta left, but strangely enough not many marshmallows???
Archery Practice
We have been lucky that Mr Renwick was able to get some archery equipment for us to use.
In the first session we had to do a lot about safety as well as how to stand and how to hold the bow and nock the arrow.
We enjoyed trying it out.
A Visit From the Fire engine
We were lucky to get a visit from Bob and the Fire engine.
We listened carefully and asked some sensible questions
