The Population of China

In our topic on China we looked at the various cities and found that Shanghai had a population of 22,315,474.

We then wanted to compare this to the UK population. This turned out to be  68,669,765.  we then looked at the three cities with the highest population in China and we were shocked to see that three of their cities had more people in them than the whole of the UK!

we also looked at the population of China. They have an amazing

1 451 660 902  people.

The website showed how quickly the population was increasing. We discussed how people knew and how statistics work.

We took note of the number of people every hour and we found out that the mean population increase was 646 people an hour.

Our New Club

We were talking to Mr. Renwick and he showed us one of his painted miniatures. We wanted to paint something like it so he said if we wanted to do so would we like to have a P5,6,7 club where we could paint some. We all said YES!

We got to choose some miniatures that Mr. Renwick printed for us. we started off with something easy and will progress onto the harder things as our skills improve.

Soldier Bears

you can certainly see where we have been!

We are really proud of our efforts and Mr. Renwick said they were awesome.

We had to concentrate,  but it was really quite relaxing. We can chat to each other while we paint too.

Poppy Scotland

We got the chance to visit the Poppy Scotland travelling museum.

Laura and John showed us around and told us lots of facts about Poppy Scotland. The wreath you can see above is an original one and is  nearly one hundred years old.

we even got to make our own poppies…

A Rocky Day

We decided that we would support the Skeld Flower Show and all painted some awesome rocks for their competition.

Some of us won first place in our age categories. Here are a selection of the ones that came back to the school.

Nursery Upgrade

Over the summer our nursery got a bit of a facelift. The floor had done well. It was the original put down in 1996. I wonder how many tiny feet had left their mark over the years.

We were so excited to return to something new. Our staff were amazing and made it look awesome…

Sports Day

on 30th June we had a joint sports day with Happyhansel and Sandness . We went from thirteen children to nearly sixty.

We had lots of fun activities as well as some more traditional races like the egg and spoon race.

We were in three teams, red, white and blue to celebrate the jubilee.
