We have been SUPER busy getting things ready for Christmas time. We have been making things for the craft fair which we are excited to sell. We also have been learning the song ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’ to preform at an assembly and the song ‘The Magical Garden’ for the school show which is called ‘The Snow Queen’. We are feeling ready for all the Christmas fun in the next few weeks!! By P3/4
We loved playing in the community garden this week. We liked climbing in the trees. We also loved running around playing tag. We also loved playing Manny and Maggy. By Sinclair, Scott, Lyall and Theo in P3/4
We have LOVED getting to play in and explore the snow. We wish it was deeper but we have enjoyed building things from the snow. Here are some photos of our snow creations.
In our writing we have been learning about using interesting vocabulary and similes. Here is some vocabulary we think would describe the snow…
In P3/4 we absolutely LOVE listening to, reading and writing stories. We have been reading the Wildsmith series by Liz Flanagan and are currently reading the 4th book in the series ‘ Wildsmith Magical Mountain Rescue’. We would highly recommend these books to children aged between 7 and 10.
Every day we have time to ‘read for enjoyment’. This is when we can choose what book we want to read!
One of our Book Week Scotland activities was listening to Nadia Shireen’s Authors Live video. She writes the ‘Grimwood’ books. We have some of these in our classroom so it was good to hear from the person who wrote AND illustrated them. She told us about why she became an author and her love for drawing. Lots of us think we would make good authors and illustrators.
On Friday afternoon, we had a BookBug and Book Gifting session. Some parents even came in to read with us. We liked seeing Book Bug and loved that everyone got a new book to read! THANK YOU CLAIRE FOR ORGANISING!!
Primary 3/4 put on FANTASTIC performance to demonstrate what they have learned about Scottish History. Their short play included everything from Celtic Warriors to Mary Queen of Scots to Scottish Inventors. Everybody had worked hard on learning their lines and projecting their voice on the stage. They showed confidence when performing to the rest of the Primary classes and their parents.
Some comments from pupils about their show:
“Me and Scott did a great job of playing the part of Highland Clearance victims” – Frankie, P3.
“I did amazingly with my pretending to cry” – Scott, P4.
“I think everyone did a great job because they remembered their lines” – Magnus, P4.
“I think the teachers did a good job with all the lines they had to remember” – Olivia, P4.
“I liked me and Lewis’ part because we were dressed as factory workers”. – Annie, P3.
