We had the pleasure of meeting two gorgeous peerie ducklings which were being looked after in the school after hatching in an incubator! We have been learning about Spring and also life cycles of animals so this fitted in perfectly. The ducklings were so very cute and cuddly.

Busy in P2/3
Here are a few photos from the last few weeks! When we build we are developing our fine motor skills which benefits our handwriting. We are also learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We are also planning and modifying what we are doing and working in pairs or small groups means we are learning about negotiation.
Circus Skills Workshop
We had an interesting session this morning learning some new skills! We had a visit from the Let’s Circus team who ran a workshop where we had a chance to learn skills such at spinning plates, hulahooping and rolling/jumping. Look how we got on!
SPRING IS DEFINITELY HERE!
We explored the garden and playground for signs of Spring this morning as part of our topic ‘Living Life!’
We found lots of interesting things that we know are to do with Spring – lambs in the field, daffodils, dandelions, buttercups, caterpillars, buds, leaves on trees, blossom, green grass, sun high in the sky, tadpoles, bumblebees and plants beginning to grow. The caterpillars were very popular!!
Da Voar Redd Up
We enjoyed a dry and bright window of weather on Tuesday afternoon – which luckily coincided with our Voar Redd Up slot!
We were teamed up with our talking partners and a pair from Secondary 1A. We had a great time ‘hokking’ around for bruck and managed to fill a few bags although there wasn’t too much to find.
Joe Wicks Workout 28/03/2017
We took part in the Joe Wicks School Workout on Tuesday in the social area alongside P5/6 and P6/7. It was tough going but a lot of fun. The teachers all got stuck in as well and enjoyed it just as much as the pupils.
The pupils came back buzzing and full of excitement.
Comments included:
“My favourite was the mountain climbers.”
“It was nice, good and healthy.”
“I liked the star jumps the best.”
“I felt excited!”
“It made me happy.”
“It made me feel joyful.”
“It was epic!”
It was good but I was very tired.”
“You feel tired because your muscles are working hard and getting stronger.”
“I got sweaty!”
“That made me feel fit doing all that exercise.”
The class even asked if they could do it again the next day.
Outdoor Maths
After a few weeks of learning about length, weight and capacity we decided to go on a measure hunt. We looked all around the school playground and garden to find things we could measure the length, weight and capacity of. It was a beautiful day and we even took time to check out the frog spawn on the pond. No frogs to be seen though, they must have been hiding.
Memory Boxes
We had a lot of fun decorating our Memory Boxes today. We each took in a box which we were able to decorate and label with the art materials available. It was a lot of fun and the children were all attentive at their task. We also learned about using apostrophes!
A Memory Box can be used to store your memories so you can come back and look at it whenever you like. You might put in it favourite toys from when you were younger, books, drawings, cards, or maybe something to remember a loved one by who is no longer with us.
Thank you Dylan for originally sharing the idea with us :-).
Topic – Extreme Weather
P2/3 have been learning with their talking partners and researching weather around the world. They took notes on different climates and shared and compared their findings with other pairs. Well done on all your learning on Extreme Weather this term P2/3!

Elora and Thomas M were delighted to receive their RNLI colouring in competition entries back framed. They had been chosen as the top two colouring in entries in the class! Well done. Thank you to Ian Derbyshire for coming down to deliver the news!
