Planting seeds!

The Early Years pupils have really enjoyed learning about farming, and are still having such food fun playing in the tractor and farmer’s house.  We are always listening to their ideas and making sure that learning is child led.

We had a great time planting tomato seeds in the morning and afternoon session today.  What a lot of learning can come from such a fun activity!

As well as developing motor skills through the ‘fluffing up’ of our compost pellets, we were talking about shape, soil, and the growing process.  We looked at some of the words and spoke about some of the letters that we recognised.  We also did a bit of counting to check that everyone had planted their seeds.

Well done, lots of super learning!

Early Years Department Assembly

Today was our EYD Assembly. We have been learning about animals, so we sang ‘Old MacDonald’ and shared some of the things we have been learning about.

Unfortunately Mrs Osborn forgot to take the camera in the morning, however someone who came in the morning has promised to email me some pictures! I will put them up when I get them.

I did remember to take the camera in the afternoon though, so here are some pictures of the fun!

Friends and family came back to the EYD for refreshments.

Maths fun

Today we were using pegs and sticks for maths! We have been doing lots of work on shapes so we used the sticks to try and make different shapes.

Some of the sticks had numbers on, so we had to look at the number and then put the same number of pegs on the stick. It was quite tricky to fit 9 pegs on a stick but we managed!

There were shapes to find on the interactive whiteboard as well!

Stay and Play

We had a visit from Ashton’s dad in the morning, he was great fun and played lots of games with us.  We didn’t let him go on the climbing frame, we thought he was too big!

Make sure to look out for the ‘Stay and Play’ sign up sheet on the Early Years’ door if you’d like to come in during one of our sessions.
