{"id":190,"date":"2024-11-28T17:11:58","date_gmt":"2024-11-28T17:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/secondary2425\/?p=190"},"modified":"2025-01-17T11:41:10","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T11:41:10","slug":"s3-physics-outdoor-practical","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/secondary2425\/2024\/11\/28\/s3-physics-outdoor-practical\/","title":{"rendered":"S3 Physics outdoor practical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S3 Physics took their learning outdoors today to perform an investigation in measuring the speed of sound.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils measured a set distance using a trundle wheel up the old sports day racetrack!<\/p>\n<p>Working together in pairs they took turns in clapping two pieces of wood together and timing how long it took to hear the sound.<\/p>\n<p>They then used their measurements to calculate the speed of sound using the formula v=d\/t.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s weather brought a great opportunity to take our learning outdoors!
