Paying it forward this advent to the Shetland Food Bank

The Community Stars have been busy organising an Advent Calendar with a difference this term. They have asked our school community to donate food and non food items, if possible, to the Shetland Food Bank as a way of paying it forward this advent. There is a box available in the foyer area where items can be placed each day of advent.

dscf5745The Community Stars have been overwhelmed by the response and have had to make an early delivery to The Shetland Food Bank in Lerwick as so many items have been donated.

The Community Stars group are very grateful for pupils and their families supporting this worthwhile cause.

The Shetland Food Bank, which is part of the Trussell Trust, is based at 20a St Magnus Street, Lerwick and is open from 2-4pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to accept donations. The Trussell Trust charity aim to stop hunger in the UK.  David Grieve is the person the Community Stars group have been liaising with and we are hoping he will be able to come and talk to the pupils at a primary assembly next term to speak about the Trussell Trust and its work.
