We Love Experiments

Primary 5-7 have enjoyed taking part in lots of different experiments over the past couple of weeks as part of our Human Body topic. We have been learning to write lab reports at the same time and have found ourselves to be excellent scientists!

We took part in the BBC Terrific Scientific Taste experiment to find out about taste buds. We found that everyone has a different number of taste buds which determines whether we are tasters, non-tasters or supertasters!

We also did another experiment to find out about how exercise affects our heart rate. We had to come up with a hypothesis before testing it out to see what happens. The more vigorous the exercise, the higher our heart rate. Some of us found it quite tricky to keep up with how fast our hearts were going!

Making the most of the sunshine

What a beautiful day it has been today! P5-7 made the most of the lovely weather and practised their spelling words outside.

Reebops

This term we have been learning about animals, plants and ecosystems. Today, we finished learning about inheritance. We made reebops and then paired together to find out what their children would look like. We learned about phenotypes, genotypes and alleles. We worked really well together.

End of Term Assembly

Today we had an assembly to celebrate our achievements this year. We had written a top secret song for our three P7 leavers, Simone, Vanja and Ryszard. We had done a great job keeping our secret and our P7s were amazed by our hard work!

We also awarded certificates to each other, were awarded certificates from our teachers as well as some other special awards.

Here are some photos of our performance of The Ogre that had No Heart!

Dragon of the Western Sea Scottish opera

On Tuesday we went to Tingwall Hall to practice Dragon of the Western Sea!  We did a performance in the afternoon where we showed off all our hard work! We had a lot of fun!

Last day of term!

What a super last day we have had! First, a visit from the Walls Brownies Up Helly Aa squad, our Easter Service and a visit from the Play Van!

World Book Day

We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day.

We dressed up as our favourite characters from books we like, created picture books which we read to the P1 and 3s, had a scavenger hunt, designed new front covers, visited the library and shared our favourite book. We love reading!
