Stay Safe Online

Tuesday 11th of February was Safer Internet Day when we were encouraged to think about “how to use the internet and technology safely, responsibly and positively.”

P4 has been busy since then reflecting on what this means through a series of games and tasks.  Here we are completing an activity to show how it is fun to be connected through the worldwide web – playing games, listening to music, watching videos, being part of online communities.

Toys Topic

Our topic is about toys from the past. We had to bring toys that our parents owned.   I brought in a puzzle ball that my auntie Elisabeth  owned.  I also  did a speech about it and passed it around and everybody tried to solve it  but nobody could.

On Wednesday the 5th of February we had a big fun play day.  There were a lot of toys and it was a lot of fun.  The most fun thing was when I went to the P1 class room to play with the clay and we played sardines with the p1 teacher Mrs Irvine  It was the best time of my life.

The Heritage Centre

In January we went to the Heritage Centre to see some old toys because our topic is toys.  It was really fun to see what toys were like in the 1900’s.  We also got to wear some clothes from 1940’s.  We got to see homemade toys and it was amazing to see how well they kept their toys.

Magnetic Fun Time

On Monday 2nd of February P1 and P2 came to our classroom to play with our magnetic  activities. There were crafts, fishing, maze, and magnetic toys that all had something  to do with magnets. They seemed to enjoy it. There were at least 3 P4’s at each group.    As you can see there are pictures of all the  activities.

P4 Visit Fernlea

Today we visited Fernlea and sang some Christmas songs to the residents. We especially liked “Ho Ho Ho” as it was a new song for us to perform. Afterwards we had a drink and sweetie and spoke with some of the old folk.  Before leaving, we wished everyone “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”.

Visitors to Our Classroom

We were delighted to welcome Gillian, Jasmine and Isobel into our classroom today.  We were singing and signing the concert song “Christmas Alphabet”.  Gillian taught us signs for some of the colours and new alphabet letters.  We are looking forward for their next visit in the new year when Gillian is going to show us her story boxes.

Later the fiddlers played to us.  They are practising for next years music festival. It was great to see so many Whalsay fiddlers, twelve in total!  Good luck to all of them in March 2020.
