Last term we had Bike Ability to learn how to be safer on the road, the first thing we start with is an M-bike check. We start with the wheel and go up to the handlebars and then down to the seat and then down to the back wheel. We also do a drop test and if we hear anything make a weird noise that isn’t normal, we have to get it checked. I enjoyed bike ability and I learnt a lot like the signals, left hand turn, safe stop and safe stop. Its quite useful for being safe on the road and I feel more confident riding a bike!
Last term we did a speech about getting into the Eco Committee since the other class were doing the JRSO. The eco committee is a community and if you do three tasks off their website you can get a green flag. It took about one week to get all our speeches written and typed up. Later on we got to do practice runs on the speeches with Mrs Hutchison. With our reading group we got to assess each other and write a comment on what we could do better. Then we had to do the real deal! We had to say our speeches to Miss Irvine and Mrs Hutchison. They then thought it was too hard to pick so they split us into two groups. I hope we can get a green flag soon!
Last Term P7s did bikeability with Danny Peterson. Some of the things we learned was a safe start, a U turn, a safe stop, a left hand turn, a right hand turn and cycling no handed. Some days it would be really good weather but other days it was freezing cold. Overall It was really fun and I really enjoyed it.
There was a Maths Week at the school. There was a treasure hunt around the island. In our class we learned how to do Roman Numerals. In P.E we timed our times for different tasks and then in class we found out the mode, medium, average and mean. We learned it in a rhyme. The rhyme is:
Hey diddle, diddle, the median’s the middle
You add and divide for the mean
The mode is the one you see the most
And the range is the difference between
