Charlie was a fierce Viking in the Jarl Squad. We loved when he took in his suit to show us!
Up-Helly-Aa Topic – Billheads and Sagas
Dougie and Neil Grant came in to visit us and share their knowledge of writing Viking Sagas for the Junior Jarl.
Trip to the Galley Shed
We went to the Galley shed to see all the Bill heads on display there before creating our own ones. We also saw the oldest shield on display, from 1925 and got a sneaky peek at the Galley. (We had to keep the colour a secret until UHA day!)
Up-Helly-Aa Day 2026
We loved having the Jarl Squad visit our class.
After the Jarl Squad left, we met the Junior Squad and their band in the middle floor. We enjoyed listening to the band and some danced a Boston two step.

Trip to the Museum
On the 4th of February we had a trip to the Museum. We had a fantastic time getting a tour of the galleries from Donna, she shared lots of information about how school has changed through the decades and provided details specific to Lerwick. We saw the new video about the development of the Sullom Voe Terminal, 50 years ago.
We also had a workshop from Ellie and learnt loads about how historians use evidence from primary sources to help them understand the past. Below are some of the artefacts she shared with us.
