{"id":779,"date":"2026-05-28T13:26:01","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/primary2425\/?p=779"},"modified":"2026-05-28T13:59:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T12:59:45","slug":"wilder-an-da-nyuggel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/primary2425\/2026\/05\/28\/wilder-an-da-nyuggel\/","title":{"rendered":"Wilder An Da Nyuggel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, Whalsay Primary warmly welcomed local author, Jane Cockayne, with her first story Wilder An Da Nyuggel and Bruce Eunson from education Scotland and Shetland Forwirds.<\/p>\n<p>The story follows the adventures of a Scalloway boy called Wilder and his adventures meeting a water horse \/ Nyuggel. It is written in both English and Shetland, translated by Christine De Luca with a useful glossary in the middle to help with any familiar Shetland words.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce and Jane shared parts of the story and enjoyed super discussions and questions from each class. It&#8217;s a shame they couldn&#8217;t stay longer, next time!
