Today we created some maths monsters!
This week we have started to look at place value within our Maths.
We spoke about the importance of writing the correct way, 49 is very different to 94.
The pupils created monsters using the place value method. They each picked a number between 11 – 99 and then worked out now many tens they needed and how many ones. The ones were used as teeth and the tens were used as the hair.
We will continue to explore place value over term two.

Last week we looked at Goldilocks and the Three Bears 🐻(this was another choice from the pupils) for our topic. The pupils also focused on this book for their writing and maths.
The pupils knew the story very well by the end of the week and were able to sequence it on their own. We also thought about different perspectives from other characters in the story, such as how Goldilocks was feeling and Daddy Bear, Mammy Bear and Baby Bear.
This week we have moved on to The Gingerbread Man.
📷 We have lots of bears now peeking over the active board in our classroom. Well done again to P2A for creating such fantastic bears!
