We love gym with Mrs Ritchie and we always have class teacher gym on a Friday with Mrs Sjoberg. Can you imagine P1A’s excitement when they saw Mrs Ritchie had left the equipment out for us (and can you imagine Mrs Sjoberg’s face!)
We were so sensible and had an absolute ball!
As part of our topic we’ve been learning how to stay safe around bonfires, fire works and sparklers. We know about Guy Fawkes and have been learning about how to make different firework shapes and designs in art.
We had a lovely play outside today, lots of rolling and climbing and running.
On Tuesday we were invited to watch a theatre production called ‘Four Go Wild in Wellies’ it was really funny and we had to use our imaginations because there was no speech just music and movement.
🍂 We were happy to get back to Welly Wednesday today. Our soft start outside involves lots of exploring the changing season as well as manage risk through tree climbing. Lots of positives for strengthening gross and fine motor skills and children feeling they can learn how to take risk in their play and problem solve how to stay safe.
🍂 Our learning focus this week was numeracy in the outdoors, we gather objects and ordered them by length. We found objects longer and shorter than our hands.
We exercised our little fingers this week using pegs and cotton wool to print these fantastic ghosts.
We love stories in Primary 1. We usually read 3 a day in class, we also like to listen on the bbc schools radio to stories. Learners are often found in our classroom library or reading the signs around the school.
We visit the library on a Thursday and take a book home each week to share with our grown ups.
A wonderful trip to the beach, we learned about safe road crossing with our crossing patrol Tony.
Primary 1A would like to remind you that there is an open afternoon on WEDNESDAY 5 OCT between 3.30pm-5.00pm.
Come for a play with your child in our classroom, explore the school, try the canteen lunches and share in the excitement of your child’s learning and successes this term.
See you Wednesday – Mrs Sjoberg 🙂
What a blustery end to the week. Today we learned about storms, we have been doing mindfulness and today used playdoh to help us relax and listen to an audio story ‘The Little Red Hen’.
Then we had a ball at class teacher gym, we love the parachute!
The big blocks have been a huge hit this week, we’ve been creating some fantastic structures whilst learning about being safe and combining other parts of our play provision, cars, dolls, Lego, small blocks. To create the most imaginative creations.
We’ve been enjoying Wellie Wednesday. Last week our focus was exploring signs of Autumn. This week we explored our environment in the rain, we collected twigs and created fairy wands. We gathered natural litter to created shape sun catchers. We read a rhyming book and identified rhyme. Of course we practised risky play by climbing trees and crawling in small spaces and we were jumping in puddles 😊
In Art Primary 1 have been reading “the dot”
Just like the story “just make a mark and see where it takes you” we have been inspired to make lots of marks and dots using paint, drawing, printing and cutting.
Excellent work primary 1! 😊
