Learning about dissolving

We had a fun science lesson last term where we experimented with different items to see if they would dissolve in water or not. The pupils loved this lesson and had a great time. We tried sugar, flour, coffee, rice, salt, sand, chalk and honey. Can you remember which ones dissolved and which ones didn’t? We had to figure out what to do with the things that wouldn’t dissolve. The class enjoyed going outside to empty out their cups or putting it in the bin. Items that dissolved were safe to put down the sink.

Meta-skills covered during this lesson include: focusing, initiative, communicating, collaborating, curiosity and critical thinking.
