Exploring Ice

We did an experiment to see if ice (a pretend snowman) would melt quicker or slower if he had clothes on. Ask your children the answer! They were all surprised.

We have also been having fun with ice in the water tray and seeing what we can do to speed up the melting process. We also got the paints out and painted on the ice.  Lots of fun!

Meta-skills covered are focusing, adapting, communicating, collaborating, curiosity, sense-making, creativity and critical thinking.

Kites, Wind Socks and Birds

We had the best time in the wind with our crafts we had made in art with Mrs Sinclair. There was lots of skirling and screeching.

Meta-skills covered are focusing, adapting, initiative, curiosity and creativity.

We also put a rain gauge out to measure how much rain fall there has been. But it keeps being blown over in the wind. We are going to use stones along the bottom to hopefully keep it in place.

PE

Racket Activities

We have spent the second half of the term doing racket activities.  We have used tennis, badminton and table tennis equipment to develop our individual hitting and basic sending and receiving with a partner.

Swimming

This term P3 have had their swimming block.  We focused on developing their ability in front and back crawl.  Everybody is showing great improvements in confidence and technique.  Well done.  A great block in the pool.

PE Reminder

– Hair tied back

-All jewellery removed

-Wear appropriate clothes – tee shirt, tracksuit bottoms/leggings, trainers.

Art Lesson

In Art P3 have been looking at Shetland artist Ruth Brownlee, finding out about her paintings and what inspires her.

We started by experimenting and exploring the paint, trying to find new ways of putting it onto the page.

After a week of exploring, we tried to create our own weather-inspired seascape.

The final results were great!
