Music – Rattlin’ Bog

The P.2-3 love to begin each music lesson each week by singing ‘The Rattlin’ Bog’ which one of the pupils suggested that we should sing as he thought the structure was very similar to one of the songs that we were singing last term. Both songs are ‘cumulative songs’ which is a song with a simple verse structure modified by progressive addition so that each verse is longer than the verse before. I think the bairns did well to remember all the words and to also fit them in, as the song is quite fast.

Above is a recording of P.2-3 singing the song and below is the Youtube recording that they sing along to:

Music – Sun, Sea and Songs!

P.2-3 have been singing some songs about the sea and we have been following the Sun, Sea and Song BBC Schools Radio programme where each week we learn a new song about the sea.

Here is a link to the songs: Primary Music KS1: Sun, sea and song! – BBC Teach –

As well as learning a song, each week we have also done some related musical activities and listened to a piece of music where the children have listened out for and identified instruments, and shared with each other ‘what the music makes them think of’.

Here are P.2-3 singing ‘Suki over the Ocean’ as a round which took lots of concentration to sing their own part and to stay in tune.            And didn’t they do well?!

Term 3 Music- Viking Songs

This Term Primary 3 have been learning some Viking Songs and adding tuned percussion accompaniments, introductions and interludes to their pieces. This has helped them not only to develop their tuned percussion skills but also to consolidate their previous knowledge of note lengths and rhythms. The P.3 class are so enthusiastic when they perform their songs and are a pleasure to listen to. 😊🎵🎙️

Term 3 Week 3

It has been a very busy week with lots happening.

We practiced our spelling words using fancy letters,

We also learned about adverbs  in grammar and had a go at using them in writing.

We have also enjoyed some Up Helly Aa themed activities and made our own paper galleys and discussed how at UHA they would be burned by the torches.

And finally, we had lots of twins this week!!!

Term 3 week 1

Hi everyone.

I hope you all had a lovely festive period and are glad to be back into a ‘normal’ routine. It has been wonderful hearing about everyone’s holidays and what you got up to.

This week we have settled back into routines and got stuck into lots of work. We completed a maths scavenger hunt re-visiting all the learning we did in terms 1 and 2 and started learning about symmetry.

Our big question this week was all about dinosaurs and we had loads of fun completing different dinosaur related tasks.

Term 2 Week 9

It has been a lovely last week of term with lots going on!

Primary 6/7 very kindly showed us micro-bits and how to program them to do different things, such as make smiley faces, text each other, and play a song.

We’ve had great fun doing different Christmas themed arts and crafts.

Class photo time!
