Hot Colours

Topic: Hot and cold Climates

This term our topic is all about hot and cold climates. As part of our learning we looked at the colour wheel to find hot and cold colours. We discovered that there are hot and warm colours such as red, yellow, orange and pink as well as cool and cold colours like green and blue.

We thought about all the things that hot colours made us think of – fire and the sun.

We looked at abstract ‘hot colour’ paintings and they reminded us of flames in a fire or of the sky at sunset.

We found some sunset pictures and spotted that the things in the foreground were in silhouette so we decided to make our own sunset pictures with hot country animals in silhouette.

We used strips of ‘hot colour’ tissue paper to make our sunsets and cut-outs of hot country animals to put in silhouette. We think our pictures turned out well. What do you think?
