Paired Reading

Primary 1/2 realy enjoyed spending time with P5-7 today.  After we made junk model robots together, we did paired reading.  The younger ones loved the older children reading to them.  We are going to try and do this more often – it was great fun for everyone!

‘I Am Bat’ by Morag Hood

Primary 1 received the book ‘I Am Bat’ as part of their BookBug pack.  We read the book in class and talked about tasting different foods for the first time.  We then went through to the canteen to taste lots of different fruits.  We looked touched and smelled the fruits before we cut them.  We read the labels and found out that lots of the fruits we had came from South America.  Once the fruit was cut up, we all had a taste.  Afterwards we had a vote to see which was the most popular fruit.

Anti-Bullying Week 2018

This week was Anti-Bullying Week.  Primary 1 & 2 took part in lots of activities related to this years theme ‘respect’.  We thought about what respect sounds like and looks like in school and at home.  We thought about how we feel when people show us respect.  We also talked about bullying and how we might feel if we are being bullied.  We made a lovely display which is all about respect.  We are all going to try and respect each other more in school.  We wore odd socks on Wednesday to show our support for anti-bullying week.

Harvest Festival

We had a wonderful Harvest Festival on Monday in the Pink Hall.

Primary 1 & 2 started the festival with a song about a little seed.  They have been learning the song in music with Mrs Pottinger.  Next, Primary 2 shared their digital learning book with everyone.  Check out the previous blog post to view the book.  Everyone really enjoyed listening to Primary 3/4 singing about food waste and listening to P5/6/7 telling us about the importance of plants.  Mrs Roberston told us the story of The Harvest Moon.  At the end, the whole school sang a Harvest song with Signalong signs.

Thank you to everyone who donated food for the Harvest parcels.

Primary 2 Digital Learning Book

Primary 1 and 2 have been learning about Autumn and Harvest this term.

Primary 2 were set the challenge of sharing their learning in a creative way for our digital book.  There was a real mix of different ways to share our learning.

We shared the digital book with everyone at the Harvest Festival on Monday.  Everyone really enjoyed it!
