3 butterflies have hatched!
We decided to release them this afternoon so they are not stuck in the hatching habitat over the long weekend. We released 2 butterflies into the garden. The third one has a sore wing so we’ve left it in the hatching habitat to see if it gets better over the weekend.
The butterflies stayed on flowers we were holding for a while so we got a really good look at how beautiful they are before they flew off.
Hopefully when we come back after the long weekend some more will have hatched!

This morning we put food in the hatching habitat for the butterflies. We had to get some petals and put them in the bottom of the habitat with drops if sugary water on them.

There has been great excitement at the end of the day today! Before the children went home from school, we noticed that one of the chrysalides had hatched into a beautiful butterfly!
After school, the staff watched the second butterfly emerge.

Yesterday Primary 1 and 2 had an assembly. We sent invitations to our family. The other classes came too. It was about our topic which has been about Jack and the Beanstalk and living and growing.
We practised lots and learned some songs. We read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and sang some songs. After, some people spoke about our school trip, how to plant a sunflower seed, the pictures we made and the space seeds.
After the assembly, we all went to the classroom and our mums and dads came into our classroom so we could show them our writing and the sunflowers and space seeds.

Yesterday we went on a class trip to Michael’s Wood and Sand Gairdins. We went to these places because we have been learning about plants this term.
Some of us enjoyed sketching and taking leaf rubbings at Michael’s Wood and some of us enjoyed playing on the Pirate Ship and in the peerie hoose.
We saw lots of trees and flowers including primroses, sycamore trees, honeysuckle, tulips and bluebells. In Sand Gairdins we saw plants called Dopey and Aladdin.
Duffy Bear came on our trip too.
We all had a great day! 🙂
