We spent time this morning reading books in class.  Everyone chose where they wanted to read.  Some chose to sit at the teacher’s desk!  Some children read on their own and some read to others.

We then spent time talking abou

Number Fun

We had a day of number fun on Thursday.  Have a look at the photos and videos to see what the children have been learning.

In groups P1 and P2 had to find certain numbers from a collection of 100 number cards!  They found this very easy.

In pairs, pupils had to sort their number cards to create a number track.  Once they had done this, one person had to close their eyes while the other person turned over 1 card.  Then when the other person opened their eyes, they had to work out which number card was turned over.

Internet Safety Night

A big thank you to everyone who came to the Internet Safety Night on Monday.  A special thank you to Police Scotland, CEOPS and the Adult and Child Protection Service who came to support the evening.  Together, we worked  to raise awareness in the Burra community about keeping safe on the Internet.

Children in P1,2,3,4 enjoyed listening to the story of ‘Chicken Clicking’ and how Chicken got into trouble by clicking too much on the internet and talking to strangers online.  We also read ‘Troll Stinks’ which is about naughty goats who steal a mobile phone and bully people by making prank phone calls and sending nasty text messages.  They also enjoyed watching a ‘Hector’s World’ clip about not sharing too many personal details online.  Everyone then spent some time playing games on their devices.
