Primary 1 are doing a great work learning how to add. They can add by using counters, Numicon and number lines. They love to use their fingers to help with addition and they are learning how to add by counting on!

We love visiting the school library on a Tuesday afternoon! It’s a great time for everyone in the class to enjoy books together. This week Primary 1 joined in with P2’s reading group time. They enjoyed listening to Primary 2 read.

We really enjoyed the second week of drumming! We learned a new rhythm and had to say “1,2,3 banana!”. It helped us keep in time. Some children got to play the “doon doon’s”.

On Friday we enjoyed looking at mini beasts from Australia through the magnifying glasses. We looked at books with Australian animals in them. We have never heard of a lot of the animals before!

Primary 1/2 have had lots of free choose with activities related to The Little Red Hen. Lots of vocabulary building, turn taking, story telling, sharing and creativity going on!

We have been learning the story of The Little Red Hen. We thought it would be a great idea to learn how to draw a hen before doing more topic work. We did them by step-by-step drawing. We then thought about the patterns we might see on a hen. This added more detail to our black line drawings. Everyone did a great job!

Primary 1/2 really enjoyed their first drumming session with Joy Duncan this morning! The class loved drumming and showed great listening skills, turn taking and rhythm. We had a good dance at the end of the session. We are all really looking forward to next week 🙂

The whole class worked with a partner to make lots of jigsaws. Some jigsaws were very tricky! There was great teamwork going on.

One of the P1 pupils has recently spent 6 weeks in Tazmania. One afternoon her Dad and Mum came in to help her share all her holiday news. We learned where on the map Tazmania is and about lots of different animals you get in Australia. We even got to look at and hold lots of dead bugs which are found in Austraila! Bonza!
