Position and Movement

Alfie R – I enjoyed working in a group pretending to be a robot.  We had to give the robot instructions to move so they could find the object.

Joseph – I enjoyed working as a team to find the object.  I liked giving the instructions.  I was like a programmer.

Jake – I liked controlling the human robot through the maze in the games hall.  I gave 3 instructions to the robot.  I told the robot to move 7 steps forward, take a quarter turn to the right and then move 6 steps forward.

Tegan – I enjoyed sharing 12 sweeties between 3 teddies.

Jeemie – I loved the homework because I shared dinosaurs onto cushions.  I shared 12 dinosaurs between 4 cushions.  There were 3 dinosaurs on each cushion.

Beth – I liked grouping and sharing using the Numicon.

Coffee Morning

On Friday afternoon P1/2 prepared for the Coffee Morning on Saturday.

Ryan – We filled up jars with sweeties and toys for our tombola stall.

Willam – We put raffle tickets on the jars.

James – We wanted to raise lots of money to buy new toys for our class.

Holly – Me and Aimee enjoyed making a poster.

Tiylor – We had to put the jars in order once the raffle tickets were on top.  We put them in number order from smallest to biggest.

Thanks to everyone who donated jars for our class stall.  The school coffee morning raised £1421.90 for school funds and for chosen charities.

P1/2 Class Trip to Lerwick!

On Wednesday 17th May P1/2 went on a trip to Lerwick.

First we went to Mareel to watch a show called ‘Night Light’.  It was a fantastic show which made us use our imagination.  Tegan described the show as “magical”.  Holly says “the show was about a curious little girl who wanted to see the moon and wanted to know what happened at night time.”

Next, we walked over to the Shetland Museum and had our snack on the steps outside the boat shed.  We then went on the ‘highlights’ tour at the Museum with Yvonne and Kirsty.  Everyone enjoyed their time at the museum, especially seeing the treasure and the huge turtle!

Afterwards we walked to the King Harold Street play park for lunch and a play.  After a while, we went to the flower park where everyone enjoyed looking at the different colours, patterens, shapes and smells of plants and floweres.

Our last stop was at the Shetland Library where Morag read us a story called “Puffin Peter” then we had the chance to explore the library and have a read of some books.  The librarians helped us to take out books on our own accounts so we could take them home to borrow.

A great day was had by all and we are so glad the sun was shining!

Measure

We have been learning about measure in P1/2.  We have been learning to measure using non-standard units like our feet and hands.  We have also been practising measuring accurately using scales, tape measures, rulers and measuring jugs.
