On Friday everyone went on a shape walk. We found lots of shapes within our environment.
After, P1 spent time creating patterns and pictures using lots of different shapes.

P2 Coding
On Thursday afternoon Primary 2 spent time programming Bee-Bot and ‘tinkering’ on Scratch Junior. They had great fun adding their coding skills to create algorithms. They were able to detect ‘bugs’ and use their problem solving skills to fix them. What a fun afternoon packed full of learning! Fantastic communication, team work, maths skills and resilience demonstrated by all. Great use of new vocabulary used too! Miss Smith even learned from the children!

Rhyming Words
On Tuesday Primary 2 were thinking of rhyming words. They noticed that rhyming words all sound the same at the end.

P1 Phonics
This morning P1 did some follow up work on the sound ‘s’. They came up with lots of words with begin with the letter ‘s’ and then watched a video of Geraldine the Giraffe learning about ‘s’. They practised forming the letter ‘s’ by writing on whiteboards, in sand trays and writing in chalk outside.

Monday 21st August
Today Primary 1 enjoyed their first news writing session! It was great to see so many detailed drawings and everyone tried some writing on the lines. Later, they were introduced to Jolly Phonics and learned their first sound ‘s’. They were excited about their phonics homework.
P1 and P2 enjoyed playing during free choose activities.

Week 1!
What a fantastic first week back we have had in Primary 1/2. Everyone has settled well into the class and school routines and seem to very happy and excited to be at school.
Here are some photos taken on Friday of the class having free play. Activities included number games, mark making in shaving foam, rice tray, books, lego, playmobil, phonics area, sand tray and organising a tea party in the kitchen area. Primary 2 enjoyed looking at books in the reading area this afternoon. Some even read stories to teddies. Finally it was time for Golden Time. There was junk modelling and painting going on in the P1/2 classroom!
We look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday for the first full week!

Welcome Back!
Welcome back to our P1/2 class blog! We have welcomed 13 new Primary 1’s into our class who are all very excited to be starting school.
Day 1 was a very busy day with lots of time to play, a visit to the school library and we even managed some news writing.
