What a great first Term we have had in Primary 1 and 2. We are looking forward to much more learning in Term 2 and of course, Christmas!

2D Shape
Today Primary 1 had great fun making rockets again with 2D shape. They then drew a picture of their rocket looking closely at the shapes they had used.

Coding
This afternoon Primary 1 were learning about computer coding. Primary 2 have done a lot of coding before so they were able to help Primary 2. Everyone enjoyed playing Bee-Bot and Scratch Junior. Primary 2 even played on Kodable. Everyone was using and developing their skills of resilience, problem solving, team work, communication, counting and computer coding.
They learned about coding, algorithms and bugs.

Harvest Festival
On Monday Hamnavoe Primary School held a Harvest Festival assembly in the Pink Hall. The hall was full of friends and family of the community. The Burra Pre-School group came along too. The hall was beautifully decorated with groceries and home-made and home grown foods which were donated by members of the community. Each class did a short performance and the whole school opened and closed the festival with Harvest songs. After the festival, the food was shared out into Harvest parcels which the children took home to deliver to members of the community.
Primary 1 and 2 enjoyed singing ‘Oats and Beans and Barley Grow’.

Thank You!
We had a visitor to our classroom last week. She came from another school to join in with the teaching and learning in our Primary 1/2 class.
Primary 1 and 2 would like to thank Jennifer very much for the kind gift she gave us. We particularly love the games and have been playing them a lot!

Autumn Leaf Rubbings
On Wednesday afternoon we talked about Autumn and the changes we might see. We looked at Autumn leaves and took leaf rubbings using Autumn coloured crayons.

Week 7- Numbers and Counting
P1 have had a fantastic week of number learning! They have enjoyed all of the active games and activities. They have been learning about numbers and counting in groups and have shown great team working skills.
