On Thursday a Primary 2 pupil took in his favourite book “The Book with No Pictures” by B.J Novak. He read the book to the class with the help of his friend. We thought it was a very funny book!

Primary 2 have been revising number facts within 10. On Friday they used Numicon, peg boards and unifix to create patterns of 6. They are working on fast recall of number facts which will help them with addition and subtraction with bigger numbers.

Primary 1 have really enjoyed playing in the maths area this week! The classroom looks so messy but that’s ok, so much learning was happening! They have been busy creating their own counting games.

The staff and children at Burravoe Primary School were very kind and let us borrow their i-Pad and Osmo. Primary 1 and 2 have had a great few days playing the Tangram and Coding games using Osmo. Whilst playing the games, the children were using and developing many skills including problem solving, logic, coding, spatial relation, team work and communication. Through the games, they were learning about shape, directional language and position and movement too.

This group of children had a fantastic phonics session on Thursday. They loved the spelling game on whiteboards and then really enjoyed making CVC words using the blocks and word cards. They tried to see how many they could do in a set time. They wanted to keep practising their phonics so we played Fast Phonics games on the whiteboard. Great work everyone!

The class have really enjoyed all the Halloween activities which were set up in the classroom. We had pumpkins, black and orange playdoh, slime, dressing up, Halloween story books and lots of spiders and rats!
P2 wrote some fantastic acrostic Halloween poems and some rhyming spells.

During week 1 our classroom helper came to visit us with her new puppy called ‘Loki’. He was very well behaved! Loki liked to have a sniff of everyone and even licked some people!

The class love to bring things in for Show and Tell. A P1 took in his model boat which he built with his Dad in the October holidays! He told us all the skills he was learning when he was planning and building his model.

Welcome back to Term 2! This is a busy term in any school in the run up to Christmas. The class were happy to be back at school in the first week. They were busy writing about their October holidays, making their Cauliflower Christmas cards, playing with Bee-Bot, and other play areas in the classroom.
