Eating the Gingerbread Men
Once all the gingerbread men were ready, we re-told the story of The Gingerbread Man to our partner using our baked characters. At the end of the story, we got to eat The Gingerbread Man like the fox did in the story!

Decorating Gingerbread Men
Once the gingerbread men were ready and cooled down, everyone enjoyed decorating them! The class concentrated on decorating their gingerbread men really well and used their fine motor skills.

Baking Gingerbread Men
Today we baked gingerbread men! First we talked about hygiene and safety when baking. We made sure long hair was tied up, everyone had on an apron and everyone gave their hands a really good wash.
Everyone worked very well in their groups to help measure, mix, roll and cut. Some children even managed to crack the eggs! Baking is such a great activity to practice number skills.

Retelling ‘The Gingerbread Man’
The class have been reading lots of different versions of The Gingerbread Man this week. They are learning to re-tell the story. We have been looking at the vocabulary including different sentence openers. This afternoon the class made a story road to help us re-tell the story. After, everyone split into groups to work on re-telling the story. Some used the story road, some sequenced the story using picture cards, some used stick puppets to tell the story and some greated the scene using the farm set and Duplo. They then used the small figures to act out the story. Everyone did a great job! Tomorrow they will try to write the story in sequence order. Next week we will look at adapting parts of the story to make it our own.
If anyone has any other versions of The Gingerbread Man at home, please bring them in!

Fire Festival 2018
On Friday we enjoyed our visit from the Scalloway Fire Festival Jarl Squad. We thought Jarl ‘Ragnar “Sutrika” Lothbrok’ and his squad did a great job as Vikings. We enjoyed singing a Viking song to the squad and giving them a cheer too.
The class looked like their very own Viking squad with their matching helmets and shields.
Well done to Daisy who received a Star Pupil Award from the Guizer Jarl for working so hard all week!
