First Day of Term

What a super day welcoming the new Primary 1/2 class at Hamnavoe Primary School!

We spent all morning playing!  Everyone enjoyed discovery learning and have shown great team working skills.  It was great to see everyone being so creative in their play and learning too.

After snack we talked about out Summer holidays with our talking partners.  Some were brave enough to stand up in front of the whole class and tell their news.  We then had a go at drawing a picture and writing about our holidays.  Primary 1 are developing their pre-writing and reading skills by mark making and talking about their work.  Primary 2 worked independently and produced brilliant work!

Lunchtime was a great success as everyone enjoyed their sausages and waffles.  Primary 1 were encouraged to use their fork to eat with instead of their hands.  Everyone was encouraged to cut up their waffle and sausage with their fork and knife.  I think everyone was hungry after their busy day as lots of children went up for seconds!

Primary 1 children went home at 1.30pm which left a smaller class of just Primary 2 children.  We spent the afternoon learning about how to use Microsoft Word on a laptop.  We tried changing the font, colour and size of text.

We are looking forward to another fun filled day tomorrow!
