Today the author of ‘Da Fisherman’s Wife’ and ‘Da Ooricks’ books came to visit Primary 1/2. She read the stories to us and we spoke lots about Shetland dialect. Everyone in the class made a peerie wife and a ram. We used lots of oo (wool) to make the rams body and the wife’s hair. We felt peats, tried on the kishie and looked at fair isle patterns.
BBC Radio Shetland also joined us. They interviewed some children about their favourite Shetland dialect words and why they like learning Shetland dialect.
Primary 1/2 would like to say a huge Thank-You to Ann-Maire for spending time in our class today. We really enjoyed your visit 🙂
