Fire Festival 2017

On Friday there was great excitement at Hamnavoe Primary School as it was Fire Festival Day!  This year was even more exciting as the Jarl is from Hamnavoe and 2 pupils of the school were in the squad!

We had a Viking themed Golden Time where pupils decorated biscuits like shields, some made torches, some made clay runes and some coloured in Viking pictures.

In the afternoon, everyone gathered in the games hall waiting for the arrival of the Vikings.  Primary 1 and 2 enjoyed wearing their helmets and shields and followed their nominated Jarl into the hall.  The Vikings sang some songs and then we sang the Vikings a song which was about a galley carrying Vikings over the dangerous seas to Burra.  Well done to James, Caroline and Hannah who all received a star badge this week from the Guizer Jarl for excellent work!
