It was a beautiful morning so Primary 1 went for a walk to the stoney beach. We found so much sea glass! We took a lot back to school to wash and play with.

Primary 1 wrote their first piece of news today! We had a good chat in the morning about everyone’s weekend news. We then drew pictures and wrote a sentence. Look how fantastic everyone’s mark making skills are!
After, we finished our fish craft and had an explore outside. Leo found a tiny frog in the pond!
It was lovely to have some Primary 2’s back in class to play for a while.

This week has flown by!
Today everyone enjoyed craft activities. We read ‘The Fish Who Could Wish’ and decided to make some fish. This led to mixing colours together and having fun washing paint brushes and palettes!
The girls remembered the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See” and retold the story.
Leo was the helper today. He chose banana, red pepper, peaches and crisps for snack. Most children didn’t think they liked peppers and peaches but after tasting them, decided they do like them!

We’ve had another busy day in Primary 1!
The girls had fun making gingerbread families. The boys enjoyed the Lego. Everyone had fun in gym and then outside with bubbles and chalk.
Cara was the helper today. She did a great job choosing snack and setting the table for everyone.
Our story today was “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See”. I wonder if anyone in Primary 1 can remember how the story goes.

What a fantastic first day in Primary 1! Everyone was so excited to start school this morning. We have been busy playing all day and had time for a story before home.
Snack time was a huge success. Lots of children didn’t think they liked pineapple but after having a taste, most found they really liked it! I wonder what the class helper will choose and prepare for snack tomorrow!

We have been using texts to play and talk together. After spending lots of time reading the story of The Enormous Turnip and playing with lots of related activities, we spent time reflecting on our learning. Everyone drew a picture of something they enjoyed playing with and wrote about what they were learning through play.

After doing lots of work on The Little Red Hen story, we thought it would be a great idea to make some bread! It was very simple and straight forward as we used a bread maker. We added bread mix which looked like flour and added water. We had to wait a couple of hours for the bread to bake. While we waited, we noticed the hens from the house next door had escaped and were in the playground! We tried to get them back into their coup but failed. When we returned to the classroom we could smell the bread! It was a delicious smell. We all enjoyed fresh, warm bread and practised spreading butter ourselves.
