{"id":3103,"date":"2026-03-07T09:33:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T09:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/midyelljuniorhigh\/?p=3103"},"modified":"2026-03-07T09:33:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T09:33:47","slug":"3103","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/midyelljuniorhigh\/2026\/03\/07\/3103\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridge Building Competition 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over thirty S2 pupils from around the isles took part in a Bridge Building Construction Competition at UHI Shetland on Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>4 March 2026, including our team: Cassie, Filip, Kristoffer and Rachel. The competition is run by UHI Shetland, the Shetland Construction Training Group and CITB.<\/p>\n<p>During the day, the teams had to work together to literally build a bridge out of wood, aiming to win one of three prizes: Overall Winner, Best Teamwork and Best-Looking Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Each team was tasked with building the most efficient bridge, with each piece of wood assigned a cost. The total cost was then calculated at the e<\/p>\n<p>nd. Just like in real life, they had to consider their designs carefully and how their decisions would impact the overall cost. In reality, bridge-building projects can be extremely expensive.<\/p>\n<p>Our team won the <strong>Best-Looking Bridge<\/strong> award and came <strong>2nd place overall<\/strong>.\u00a0 Well done
