Well done to all the groups who completed their forest days throughout December. A big thank you again to the staff who helped make it happen: Mrs K Thomason, Mr C Mackenzie, Mr S Davidson, Mr C Grant, Mrs T Odie, Mr J Robertson, Mr K Malcolmson & Mrs J McDiarmid.
I’ll be meeting with Pete before the holidays so we’ll get some pictures uploads on here soon!

Our round of Coastal Days are now complete! Well done to all the pupils who scrambled, jumped, strolled, swam and flipped their way around our fantastic Shetland coastline. Photos will be coming soon.
A big thanks to Chris Grant, Mr Arthur, Mr Robertson, Miss Nicolson, Miss Watt, Mr Redman, Mrs Thomson & Mr Smith for accompanying the groups. Without staff volunteers these days would not happen.
And thanks to Pete & John for another great outdoor adventure….how does the wild make you feel, on the inside?!

S2 pupils have their second John Muir Outdoor Day very soon!
We have eight days with Pete Richardson – 6 coasteering days and 2 dry coastal adventures.
Lists of who is out on each day are now displayed in the S2 area.

Home for the night on Vementry!
Saturday 27th June saw the Conserve Award group undertake their first overnight adventure. Many thanks to Pete & Rob for organising an amazing weekend of paddling, exploring, line-fishing, open-fire cooking and sleeping out on the uninhabited island of Vementry!
Check out some of Amber’s photos. Although it got a bit wet, it was some of the calmest Shetland conditions we have experienced.

Well done to the seven classes in S2 who made it to the top of Ronas Hill on their first John Muir Award outdoor adventure.
We even had a few days of fine weather this year! Thanks to Pete, Rob, Steve and all the AHS staff who volunteered to join the groups.
The next series of outdoor days will be a Coastal Adventure in September / October.

On 2nd June the 2014-15 S2 classes received their John Muir Awards. Pete Richardson gave a short assembly and spoke about the different experiences and challenges that we had all taken part in. He encouraged us all to think about what we might do next….
Very well done to the 88% of the year group who gained an Award. 73% gained the John Muir Explorer Award!

S2 classes have just started learning about Wild Shetland in Social Subjects.
It is also time for their first outdoor adventure day: a trip to Ronas Hill. Here are the dates for each class:
2p1 – Tues 26th May
2p2 – Wed 27th May
2p3 – Thurs 28th May
2p4 – Fri 29th May
2p5 – Fri 5th June
2p6 – Mon 15th June
2p7 – Tues 16th June
Remember to bring warm clothes, appropriate footwear (with real socks!) and a good packed lunch. On your day you should meet in the S1 Social Area after registration
