{"id":4480,"date":"2026-01-04T19:36:37","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T19:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/hamnavoeprimary\/?p=4480"},"modified":"2026-01-04T19:36:37","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T19:36:37","slug":"term-3-snow-closure-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/hamnavoeprimary\/2026\/01\/04\/term-3-snow-closure-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Term 3 Snow Closure Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hamnavoe school will be closed on Monday 5th January 2026.\u00a0 If you are not out and about being busy in the snow here are some activities that could keep you busy at home.\u00a0 You can choose to do as much as you like.\u00a0 Please bring in your work once school has re-opened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Primary<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read some books yourself, or with a parent, for enjoyment.<\/li>\n<li>Write some news or draw a picture showing some of the things you have done in the snowy weather.<\/li>\n<li>Play some fun number games on Topmarks.co.uk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lower Primary Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>P1 any Phase 2 games on Phonics Play <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phonicsplay.co.uk\/\">PhonicsPlay<\/a><\/li>\n<li>P2 any phase 2 or 3 game<\/li>\n<li>Topmarks maths (https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/<\/li>\n<li>Ice Art \u2013 a flower pot tray or plate \u2013 place some \u2018treasure\u2019 onto to the tray, gently add water and leave outside.<\/li>\n<li>Practise writing name in snow<\/li>\n<li>Take some snow inside on a tray and make a snow village with some small toys\/figures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Middle \/ Upper Primary<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Practice writing your words in the snow.<\/li>\n<li>P345 play Phonics Play games at phase 3,4 and 5 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phonicsplay.co.uk\/\">PhonicsPlay<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Grammar for P4567 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/english-games\/7-11-years\/spelling-and-grammar\">Spelling and Grammar, English Games for 7-11 Years &#8211; Topmarks<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Build a snow man.<\/li>\n<li>Write what you have done with your snow days.<\/li>\n<li>Write a story about a snowman coming to life. Explore the adventures and experiences that unfold as the snowman discovers the world beyond its snowy existence.
