Welcome to Foula
Our school is at the “Edge of the World” – a peerie island 30 miles west of the Shetland mainland.
Sometimes maps place Foula inside a box, which is inside another box for Shetland! Here we are shown accurately by the red tag, out in the Norwegian Sea.
The rocks below are our home. Home too to many Shetland ponies, sheep and birds. A welcome awaits visitors from the warm-hearted people, peerie ponies, laid back chickens, playful rabbits and the friendliest sheep. Be careful you don’t lose your hat to a dive-bombing bonxie, though! The island is inhabited by so many birds it takes its name from this fact.
