{"id":925,"date":"2024-06-09T12:18:53","date_gmt":"2024-06-09T12:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/fairisleprimaryschool\/?p=925"},"modified":"2024-06-26T21:30:21","modified_gmt":"2024-06-26T21:30:21","slug":"rights-respecting-schools-silver-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/fairisleprimaryschool\/2024\/06\/09\/rights-respecting-schools-silver-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Rights Respecting Schools &#8211; Silver Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fair Isle Primary School has been awarded <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Silver<\/strong><\/span> in the <strong>Rights Respecting Schools Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) supports schools across the UK to embed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/rights-respecting-schools\/about-the-award\/child-rights-in-schools\/\">children\u2019s rights<\/a>\u00a0in their ethos and culture. The award recognises achievement in putting the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/UNICEFs-Work\/UN-Convention\/\">UN Convention on the Right of the Child<\/a> (UNCRC) at the heart of a school\u2019s practice to improve well-being and develop pupil awareness of rights.\u00a0 Our pupils continue to develop their understanding of situations, both locally and globally, where children may not be able to access their rights, and to inspire our pupils to campaign for change.\u00a0 \u00a0There are 3 awards:<\/p>\n<p>Bronze: Rights Committed<\/p>\n<p>Silver: Rights Aware<\/p>\n<p>Gold: Rights Respecting<\/p>\n<p>Our pupils, parents and staff all participated in the Silver Accreditation virtual visit online.\u00a0 The assessor was impressed by our children&#8217;s awareness of rights, the activities taking place in school to develop this understanding and our school culture that ensures respecting children&#8217;s rights are at the centre of our ethos.\u00a0 We were excited to receive our certificate and banner!
