The children have all been very interested in numbers and challenging themselves with bigger and bigger numbers.\u00a0 Today we introduced a bigger movable number line up to 50 in the setting.\u00a0 Everyone was very interested in it and there was lots of great teamwork as they worked together to find what number came next.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To support the interest in numbers we have also introduced interlocking cubes and counting cubes at the tinkering table.\u00a0 \u00a0There was lots of discussion between the children around who had the biggest tower.\u00a0 Counting the cubes in the tower to check.<\/p>\n

“its 30, now its 38”<\/p>\n

“mine is the biggest”<\/p>\n

Some of the children also used the number cubes to build towers that increased by 1 all the way up to 10.<\/p>\n

“It’s like the numberblocks”<\/p>\n

We also practiced our spatial reasoning skills with some challenge cards, to see who could copy the pictures with the blocks and get all the cubes in the right places.\u00a0 Everyone did a great job.<\/p>\n
