Working in groups, the children created their very own bands, choosing a name, designing a logo and creating a banner that could accompany them on tour!<\/p>\n<p>This was a fantastic opportunity to develop creativity, communication, teamwork and decision-making. The children had \u00a0to listen to one another, share ideas, compromise and work towards a common goal.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-5633 gallery-columns-3 \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcb0 <strong>Band Budgets \u2013 Maths in Action!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being in a band isn&#8217;t all about performing! Our budding musicians \u00a0also had to think about the financial side of the music industry.<\/p>\n<p>Using a range of mathematical skills, they tackled budgeting challenges linked to organising a tour or releasing a single. They had \u00a0to calculate costs, make decisions, work within budgets and explain their thinking. This created some great discussions.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll also used \u00a0our <strong>PACE grids (Prepare, Apply, Challenge and Extend)<\/strong> to encourage independence, problem-solving and different levels of mathematical thinking.<\/p>\n<p>This brought together our numeracy learning with real-life financial education, helping the children understand why maths matters beyond the a little boogie and \u00a0then listened to the songs and explored their lyrics to identify examples of figurative language and other literary techniques, including <strong>similes, metaphors, hyperbole and alliteration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The children boogied hard , listened carefully, discussed and identifyed how songwriters use language to create meaning, emotion and imagery.<\/p>\n<p>It was a brilliant way to connect our literacy learning to something the children encounter in everyday life, while developing listening, comprehension, vocabulary and analytical skills.<\/p>\n<div <strong>Chrome Music Lab<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Through experimenting with sounds, rhythms, patterns and melodies, the children will be developing their musical understanding alongside their digital literacy and ICT skills.<\/p>\n<p>There will be plenty of opportunities to explore, experiment, problem-solve and learn through trial and error!<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-4' class='gallery galleryid-5633 bands&#8217; very first gigs!
