Bones<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“This term we have been learning about the human body.\u00a0 We learned about our hands and the tendons used to make them move.<\/p>\n

We made hands with string and straws.\u00a0 We drew around our hands, then taped straws to it and threaded string through so that they could move.”\u00a0 \u00a0Elska P4<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Digestive System\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“We put crackers, bananas and juice in a bag and mixed it up by squeezing the bag.\u00a0 This was supposed to mimic the stomach.\u00a0 Then we put some tights over a paper cup and\u00a0 poured in the mixture.\u00a0 Then we squeezed the mixture in the tights.”\u00a0 Elska P4<\/p>\n

The tights acts like the small intestines, squeezing out all the nutrients that the body needs and passing on what our bodies don’t need to the large intestine.\u00a0 At the end of the task, we emptied the remaining food in the tights into a cup where it was then pushed out as waste.\u00a0 Some children were delighted to be part of this messy activity, whilst others were glad that it was over!!\u00a0 It was a great way to visualize what is happening inside our bodies when we eat food.<\/p>\n

Time to go to show what happens when we go to the toilet!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Sound\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have been learning about how sound is made through vibrations and how it travels to our ears so that we can hear it.\u00a0 It was great fun making string telephones to speak with our friends!<\/p>\n

We tested to see if we needed the string to be loose or taut.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We’re not sure if the message was able to get passed on here!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Good vibrations…! We tested what happens to the vibrations when we made the ruler longer or shorter.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the last day of term we had fun making instruments to show our understanding of vibrations and how to change the pitch of sound.<\/p>\n
