{"id":2374,"date":"2020-11-27T18:16:43","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T18:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/dunrossnessp56\/?p=2374"},"modified":"2020-11-27T21:32:27","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T21:32:27","slug":"class-debates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/dunrossnessp56\/2020\/11\/27\/class-debates\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Debates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, saw the culmination of several lessons spent discussing what a debate is and what the main aims are before choosing topics for us to debate in class, and then writing our arguments.\u00a0 We spent a lot of time discussing the best language to use when trying to write a persuasive piece and how we could incorporate some facts to back up our arguments.\u00a0 We also rehearsed our speeches in our groups and tried to make our presentations memorable and convincing so as to gain more votes.\u00a0 The class all tried very hard.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not always an easy thing to do and they had a lot to remember along the way e.g. using expressive voices, making eye contact with the audience and gesturing as they talked.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2375\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2375\" style=\"width: 1260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2375\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/public\/dunrossnessp56\/uploads\/sites\/1851\/2020\/11\/27180437\/Longer-Playtime-Group1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1260\" height=\"945\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2375\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Here Liam is sharing his argument for longer playtimes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Each pupil listening to the debates, left those making the speeches some constructive feedback which we would hope to take on board another time.\u00a0 The results were as follows&#8230;some votes were very close!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenga Blocks &#8211;
