I hope you have found your lovely Christmas card that was sent home today! \u00a0This class enjoy craft work and created really striking winter tree paintings for their cards.<\/p>\n

We also used these pictures to inspire us to do some creative writing. \u00a0We went out into the nature garden to look at the winter trees and gather words, phrases and ideas for our work. \u00a0Back in class, we looked at various free style poems to give us more inspiration before creating our own. \u00a0The poems needed to sound as if we were having a conversation with the tree. \u00a0They needed to have questions and repetition within it and they were not to rhyme. \u00a0This proved harder than we thought! \u00a0Some excellent pieces were created, very quickly. \u00a0Here are some of my favourite lines…<\/p>\n

Dream and dream until the sun shines through to wake you up, winter tree. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(Amy)<\/p>\n

Tall and elegant, but dead looking inside so bare and brown. \u00a0(Fergus)<\/p>\n

Will your leaves ever return? \u00a0Lying dormant on the ground but in the summer you\u2019re tall and proud. \u00a0(Magnus)<\/p>\n

Trees do you hear me? \u00a0How do you feel? \u00a0What do you see? \u00a0Dusted with frost. \u00a0(Fiona)<\/p>\n

Oh winter tree, how do you survive the harsh, harsh cold winter? \u00a0(Matthew)<\/p>\n

Oh cold frosty tree, how do you stand so strong and proud in the strong winter breeze? (Hannah)<\/p>\n

Oh tree so cold, bent and old. \u00a0Your pine cones so spiky. \u00a0Do you feel it if you bend so bold? (Kathryn)<\/p>\n

Winter tree, your leaves have fallen. \u00a0You\u2019re covered in a cloak of snow. \u00a0You are freezing in the bitter temperatures. \u00a0(Bella)<\/p>\n

How do you live outside in the cold lifeless winter, tree? \u00a0You must have thick skin. \u00a0 (Bobby)<\/p>\n

You dream about the summer and the flowers and the grass and how you\u2019ll have leaves at last. \u00a0(Ava)<\/p>\n

Winter tree, how can you live like this…in the vast winter wind where your life has faded…? \u00a0(Abi)<\/p>\n

Yes, yes, yes! \u00a0I can get cold on the outside but in the inside I can feel happiness. \u00a0(Anders)<\/p>\n

Do you want my jacket? \u00a0Wait, no, that strong, insulating bark of yours will surely keep you warm. \u00a0(Evie)<\/p>\n

Mum said you\u2019re dreaming of spring with your green, vibrant leaves but I can not see it! \u00a0(Fearne)<\/p>\n

Bare, chilly and frosty, you need some warmth. \u00a0Dream of spring, summer, flowers and the sun. \u00a0(Tory)<\/p>\n

Your fantastic green leaves, gone but when summer comes around, you will be remade and beautiful once again. \u00a0(Koll)<\/p>\n
