What an exciting day we had this week when our Local Fire Brigade came to visit!
We have been learning about “People Who Help Us”. We all wanted to learn more about Fire Fighters, so they came to visit to tell us all about their job and to show us all their equipment.
We all got to go in the fire engine and sound the siren. We also got to have a go of the fire hose. We needed strong muscles but were able to knock the ball off the cone with the water!
We tried on the fire fighter equipment – it was very heavy. Then we showed our roleplay fire station to the fire fighters and they helped us to make helmets, fire extinguishers and oxygen tanks to use in our fire station.
Both Morning and Afternoon sessions joined together, so we were able to share it with all of our friends and take time to play with each other in an exciting new play area.
We have had a busy few weeks enjoying and making the most of the lovely Spring weather.
We have been busy planting seeds and caring for them. We are experimenting to see if our seeds grow best inside or outside.
We love to take our learning outside and enjoyed the sun whilst doing Music.
PICNIC TIME! The weather has been so lovely we have had a picnic snack outside, with lots of fun in the sand afterwards.
We were so lucky we got to go to the Early Years Folk Festival this year. Both sessions went together which meant we got to make new friends and meet their Mums and Dads.
We were so excited to go on a bus trip to Lerwick. Some of us had never been on a bus before, but the best bit was getting to hear the music and dance. We tried guessing which instruments we might see when we got there, so we were very excited to hear the guitars and accordion as they were our favourites.
Whilst exploring around our school, we noticed there was lots of rubbish on our walks. We decided to do the Voar Redd Up around our school, so it is safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
We worked hard to collect all the rubbish and even took some back to Nursery to recycle!
We have been learning about “Around Our School”. We discovered one of the newest developments to happen at our school is the building of our new Boiler House. We have watched it transform from a grassy area into a boiler house.
We were very proud when we were asked to officially open it! We had such fun celebrating and learned lots about what the new boilers could do.
We have been keeping an eye on our nature pond, waiting for the frog spawn to hatch into tadpoles. We collected tadpoles to take back to Nursery so we could take a closer look and learn more about them.
We created a habitat for them and care for them every day. We regularly collect fresh water and pond weed for them and are very excited to see them grow legs! We take it in turns to change the water and can’t believe how dirty the water gets!
We have learned all about the frog lifecycle and are eagerly awaiting our first froglet!
Wow, what a busy term we have had! We ended the term with a fun Easter Egg Hunt, followed by a yummy snack of Hot Cross Buns and an ice-cream treat, made by the children.
Happy Easter everyone and we’ll see you all soon on Tuesday 12th April.
We have been learning about the Easter Story. We went for a walk to gather items to create our own Easter Garden, using the symbols we had learned about in our Easter Story.
Look at our wonderful Easter Garden which the children have created!
What a busy day our children have had. We had friends and family in for snack and take part in some craft activities.
The boys and girls in our morning session came up with this idea. They enjoyed role play in their cafe but wanted some real customers. They have worked hard to prepare the cafe, making place mats, menus, tablecloths and napkins. The children took the orders and helped to serve their friends and family. What a super day!
Good luck Mrs Bannister! We are all going to miss you. See you back here next year!
Your cafe was fantastic today. Well done! Thanks to our visitors for coming.
The café was excellent and Ryan thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. He has loved the whole task.
What a super idea the cafe has been. Georgia really enjoyed getting everything ready for the mum’s and dad’s visit. The work they put in was great and it was a real treat to be served snack by the children!
