SMUHA Plans

It is almost time!  My favourite day of the whole school year fast approaches.

This year we have decided to immerse ourselves in all things Viking for a week!  SMUHA is such an important community event that we felt that dedicating all our learning for the week was a fitting way to ensure the bairns maintain their enthusiasm.  They are the future of the festival after all!

This year we have gone all out!  We have our usual P7 Jarl Squad.  Their preparations are well underway but being kept top secret!  There are 3 other squads from P5 and P6 who will be entertaining us on the day. The galley is ready and I have to say she is looking great – well done John and galley boy Kempie!  We have an enterprise team who will be producing key rings, a programme and home bakes for sale on SMUHA day. We will split the proceeds of our enterprise venture between school funds and SMUHA.

SMUHA Week:

We have the following timetabled events but many other activities are happening during the week.  If you would like to help with any craft, story writing, supporting enterprise groups or assisting our squads, please get in touch.  We would love to have your input.  It is a fantastic community event and we would be delighted if you would like to join us.

Monday:  Shetland Dancing for all primary classes.  Visit from Jarl, Liam Mullay to see our P7 Jarl squad.

Wednesday:  Shetland Museum Outreach visiting.  All primary classes will have a session.

Thursday:  Mr Stephen Renwick and Mrs Esther Renwick will both be visiting to talk Viking and demonstrate some archaeology.
