Shetland Football/Netball Tournament
Thanks to Steve Bell for the photo and a run down of results for our football team.
The results in the group stage were
Beat Hamnavoe 2-0
Drew with Cunningsburgh 1-1
Lost to Sound 0-1
Beat Scalloway 2-0
They qualified for the Cup competition (by my calculations in 2nd place behind Sound). I have the results for the other teams in their Group!
In the quarter finals they took the lead against Bells Brae A, but the game ended 1-1! They held their nerve and won on penalties 6-5.
This result created quite a flurry of excitement as Bells Brae A were the hot favourites to win the cup!
In the semi-final they again faced Sound but lost 0-2. Sound went on to win in the final and were the only team to beat Dunrossness all day!
Netball
Thank you to Fiona Byrne-McCombie and Judy Fraser for accompanying our netballers. The team played really well and came 5th out of 15 teams.
Thank you to Joan Smith, Fiona Byrne-McCombie and Ruth Christie for their hard work coaching the team.
Sports Day
What an excellent, well organised event Sports Day was again this year. Mrs J Smith’s planning and preparation ensures a great day is had by all. I saw lots of smiling bairns, all encouraging each other in the races and events.
The canteen ladies provided an fabulous lunch in the hall – thank you!
Thanks to all pupils, staff, parents and friends and family for a super day. See you next year! Let’s hope for another fine day!
Carpet Bowls
The P5-7 Bairns got to try out carpet bowls on Wednesday afteroon. The bairns enjoyed it and we had some really lovely feedback from the coaches, John, Alex and Ian. They said the bairns were all very well behaved and we had some played really good bowls. We hope to ask them back in the winter term so interested children get a chance to develop this skill.
Final activities
School Trip at Home
We had a fantastic day visiting Jarlshof and The Sumburgh Lighthouse. We had a great time at Jarlshof looking at the settlement. It is an excellent place to play hide and seek! The Lighthouse was great too. We finished our trip with a wonderful meal at the Sumburgh Hotel.
More Creativity!
Last day of activities at Loch Insh
School Trip at Home
The Primary 6/7 class have been busy in school this week too. They helped with the P1/2/3 trip to Boddam on Monday and tried some rugby. Today they have been painting and varnishing stones, planting trees and having a go at carpet bowls. Even though they are not in Loch Insh they are still getting to do lots of different and interesting things at home.
