Naomi Visits

We were delighted to have Naomi in yesterday afternoon to talk about her work. This tied in perfectly with our visit to the Fish Market last week. Noami told us about all the different things she does in her job and then had a little task for the bairns to do! They (and I!) loved it! They agreed that it was a tricky job but a good one too! Thank you for coming in Naomi!

Oceans Adventures: Listening, Singing and Creating Music

P.1 and P.2 have been watching the Cbeebies Ocean Adventures and learning about different orchestral instruments. After we had watched the Cbeebies film and joined in with the song and sounds the class explored and selected percussion instruments to create different kinds of sea inspired music and follow graphic scores.

Liam Visits

Today we had Campbell’s dad in for a visit to tell us all about energy (wind, mechanical and solar!) and when I asked the bairns if they liked it, one replied, “No…I LOVED it!” Liam brought in some things to share with the bairns to make it a little easier to understand and it was very well received by all the bairns (and I!) Thank you to Liam for spending the morning with us!

Marlene Visits

We were delighted to welcome Marlene to the class to tell us all about being a nurse! She brought in lots of things for us to try and we had a great morning! From bandaged heads to blood pressure to hearing our own hearts! Thank you so much! We LOVED it! After Marlene left, some of us enjoyed playing with the bandages and syringes that was left!

Mystery Trip Number 2

This morning the bairns bumbled onto the bus, dressed for winter, not really sure where we were going! After lots of guessing and excitement, we made it to the Lerwick Fish Market. We were shown around the fish market where we got to see where the bidding happened as well as the fish. We got to see such a variety of fish which was great! We then went to the museum for snack and then had a tour/workshop activity on more fish related things. A special thanks to Carrie-Ann who came along with us today! What a great morning! 🙂

Inside Outside

What a beautiful, sunny day we had one Friday. The bairns asked, “Can we move inside outside?”… GREAT IDEA!! A relaxed morning full of sun, smiles and play!
