Outdoor Play (Monday-Friday)
The bairns have engaged in lots of messy play outside in the muddy puddle. They have explored texture, shape, cause & effect and used loose parts to make a bridge for their vehicles. In the mud kitchen, the bairns have been making plenty of cups of tea, potions and cooking spaghetti in the microwave.
Play on Pedals (Thursday)
We had our second Play on Pedals session for the preschoolers this week. The bairns remembered how to stand like flamingoes on one leg to improve balance and practiced the correct way to get on and off their bike using the brakes. They also practiced gentle steering and used what they had learned to weave in and out of the sleeping cone snake. Andrew set up traffic lights using red, orange and green cones. The bairns started at the green cones, got ready to stop at the orange cones stopped in line with the red cones.
Salt Drawing (Monday-Friday)
Mrs Malcolmson recorded a new prompt for bairns using the buzzer. “Can you draw a number in the sand?” The bairns used their fingers and paintbrushes to make marks in the salt. Many focused on numbers, following the prompt but we also had mountains, peacocks and a snail.
Play and Learning (Monday-Friday)
Here is a selection of our play and learning from Week 8. The bairns have brushed their teeth with Niki from Childsmile, tallied up who would like to be a Viking or the Jarl for our SMUHA burning and had a group huddle.
