\ud83c\udf1f Primary 3\/4 Weekly Round-Up \u2013 Term 2, Week Three<\/h2>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Literacy & Writing<\/h3>\n

Our spelling focus this week has been silent \u2018h\u2019<\/strong>, and the children have been working hard to spot this pattern in their reading and spelling activities.<\/p>\n

In our Explorer\u2019s Bag<\/strong>, we discovered some mystery keys<\/strong> left by the Magical Explorer, who also told us he had been travelling through China<\/strong>! This inspired lots of fantastic writing \u2014 the children wrote imaginative stories about unlocking a mysterious door<\/strong>, described a disgusting sandwich<\/strong> the Explorer found in his backpack, and created their own acrostic poems<\/strong>. They even created their own mysterious doors out of Lego, junk and blocks.<\/p>\n

We also learned about prefixes<\/strong>, creating bright and creative prefix flowers<\/strong> to show how adding prefixes changes word meanings. This week also saw the introduction of our new independent reading time and task<\/strong>, giving the children space to enjoy reading and reflect on what they\u2019ve read.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd22 Maths<\/h3>\n

In maths, we worked on counting in tens, hundreds, and thousands<\/strong>, and continued exploring symmetry<\/strong> \u2014 this time using LEGO<\/strong> to build symmetrical designs and patterns. The children showed great focus and teamwork while creating their builds.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc96 Health & Wellbeing<\/h3>\n

Our Health and Wellbeing focus this week was Article 12 of the UNCRC<\/strong> \u2013 the right to have a voice<\/em>. We read The Day the Crayons Quit<\/em> and discussed why it\u2019s important for everyone to have a voice in our class, school, and community<\/strong>. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how we can listen to others and make sure every voice is heard.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf0d Topic \u2013 Forces & Energy<\/h3>\n

Our big question this week was \u201cHow do different surfaces affect how things move?<\/strong>
We read Mr Grumpy\u2019s Motor Car<\/em> friction and how friction affects movement on different surfaces.\u00a0The children took part in a hands-on investigation using ramps and toy cars<\/strong>, experimenting to see what makes things move faster or slower<\/strong> and how motion changes depending on the forces applied.<\/p>\n

\ud83e\uddd8 PE \u2013 Teacher-Led<\/h3>\n

This week\u2019s PE session was calm and creative \u2014 a yoga session based on the book Dear Zoo<\/em><\/strong>. The children used movement and balance to represent different animals, showing great focus, imagination, and coordination. We did have to finish with some parachute fun too!<\/p>\n
